Royal Enfield unveils the Himalayan in India
Royal Enfield on Tuesday unveiled its much-anticipated ‘Himalayan’ motorcycle at an event held in Delhi after releasing its video teaser earlier.
With the success of classic models like Bullet, Thunderbird and Continental GT, Royal Enfield launched its adventure-tourer Himalayan bike especially for the Himalayas. The bike is powered by a 411 cc, four-stroke and single cylinder engine whipping out 24.5 bhp at 6500 rpm.
The expected price of Royal Enfield Himalayan bike is to be around Rs1.8 lakhs. The Himalayan will also become the first affordable ‘off-road’ adventure motorcycle from Royal Enfield in the country at this price point.
The Himalayan bike has gone through intensive testing in Himalayas for many days to make it suitable for Indian market. Royal Enfield CEO Siddharth Lal said, “Since last 5 years, the idea was to build off road bike for Royal Enfield rider for Himalayas and have been tested it across various terrains”.
The Himalayan bike has new engine that will increase its efficiency and requires less maintenance as it can go up to 10,000 KM between oil changes.
Booking for the bike will be start on March 2016 and will be available in two colour options—Granite and Snow.
