Hyundai Unveils Inster, an Exciting New EV to Rival the Tata Punch
The Busan International Mobility Show has seen Hyundai introduce its most recent entry-level electric vehicle, the Hyundai Inster. This is Hyundai’s offering for the popular Tata Punch EV, bringing an exciting and cost-effective electrical option to the Indian market.
The Hyundai Inster is built on the same foundation as Hyundai’s Casper model, which is sold in South Korea, but with a 230mm longer wheelbase that allows more space inside it. The length of the Hyundai Inster is 3,825mm, the width is 1,610mm, and the height is 1,575mm, with a wheelbase of 2,580mm.
In terms of design, it comes with a minimal, cool look featuring circular LED daytime running lights, LED headlamps, and one-of-a-kind block-shaped taillights. The profile on the sides is clean, without much cutting or folding.
Underneath this vehicle’s hood, there are two powertrain options for the Hyundai Inster . The upper variant will feature a motor producing up to 111 bhp and a battery pack measuring 49 kWh, thereby giving an estimated range of approximately 350 km and acceleration from zero to one hundred kilometers per hour in about ten to six seconds. And the lower-end variant would have a motor rated at only 95 bhp coupled with a battery of only 42 kWh, thereby delivering range over three hundred kilometers as well as reaching one hundred kilometers per hour from a stop in around eleven point seven seconds.
The interior design of Hyundai Inster focused on being premium, including two ten-point twenty-five-inch screens for the infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster; additionally, among its features are a three-spoke steering wheel with a gear selector placed behind it along with HVAC buttons. There are other additional amenities, such as a sunroof, heated front seats and steering wheels, ambient lighting, and ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems).
While Hyundai is currently concentrating on launching the Creta EV in Indian markets, the Hyundai Inster can be considered worth a look against the Tata Punch EV. Nevertheless, the Hyundai Inster may not be making its way to India anytime soon. However, there are speculations that India will get an Hyundai Inster-based Exter EV in response to competition from Punch EV. The small Hyundai EV is expected to be launched in India sometime in 2025.
