10 Dogs Breed Adopted in Bollywood as Pet

Recently, keeping pets has become a trend worldwide. People mostly prefer cats and dogs as their pets. Dogs are not only human companion and their loneliness partner but are also the protectors. Dogs are said to be the most loyal animal. They are loyal to their owner throughout their life. Humans and dogs share a special relationship; anybody who owns a pet would vouch for it. As dogs’ demands are increasing, so is the need for their food and solutions for other problems increasing. Dogs are supposed to be well trained for their waste excretion. And for this, they were to go outdoors, etc. For this reason, dog litter is introduced, which works similarly to cat litter. It allows dogs, usually of smaller breeds, to stay indoors without a lot of hassle. 

Bollywood celebrities lead a life full of admirers and fans, but their pets get their undivided attention and endless love. They are always celebrating their pets, from taking the kitties and dogs on vacations to posting their pictures and videos online. The majority of the Bollywood industry also has dogs as their pets but of different breeds. Also, in Bollywood movies, we now see the dogs making a significant contribution to the storyline. For example, in Akshay Kumar’s film ‘Entertainment’ and Salman Khan’s ‘Hum Apke Hain Kon.’  

So here are some common dog breeds adopted in Bollywood by celebrities and in films. 

  1. Labrador Retriever:

Labrador retrievers are a breed of retriever-gun dog from the UK. They are the sweet-faced, a most popular breed. They are friendly, outgoing, and high-spirited dogs with life expectancy up to 10-12 years. Most Bollywood celebrities opt for this breed, including Anushka Sharma, Shahrukh Khan, John Abraham, Salman Khan, and many more. We have seen this breed very common in many Bollywood movies, including Maa, Biwi no.1, Mard, Bol Radha Bol, and Teri mehrbaaniyan. 

  1. Pug:

The second most common breed of dog in Bollywood is Pug. These are wrinkly, short-muzzled face and curled tail. This breed has a fine, glossy coat that comes in various colours with a square body and well-developed muscles. Arjun Rampal, Hirthik Roshan, Suniel Shetty are among the Bollywood celebrities who are having this breed. And again, several movies had this breed. Mujse Shadi Kogi, kya super kool hain hum, and Kahin Pyar na ho Jaye are among them. 

  1. Beagle:

Beagles are small, compact, and hardy scent hounds. They are active companions and fun-loving, but being hounds can also be stubborn and require patient, creative training techniques. Virat Kohli, Varun Dhawan, and Yami Gautam are among Bollywood celebrities who own these breed’s dog. 

  1. German shepherd: 

This breed of medium to large-sized dogs originated from Germany. These are agile muscular working dogs of noble character and high intelligence. A German shepherd is loyal, confident, courageous, and steady. Among famous Bollywood celebrities, Ajay Devgan and Akshay Kumar own this breed of dog. 

  1. English Bulldog:

Bulldog is a medium-sized breed. It is a muscular, hefty dog with a wrinkled face and a distinctive pushed-in nose. This breed has a life expectancy of up to 8-10 years. Arjun Kapoor and Varun Dhawan have their dogs of this breed from Bollywood. 

  1. Japanese Chin:

Shahrukh Khan, the most prominent figure in the Bollywood industry, owns a dog of this breed. Japanese chin is a lap dog as well as a companion dog. It is known for its strabismus of the eyes. These are elegant and dainty, mild-mannered, and playful. This breed is acknowledged for its importance to the Japanese nobility. 

  1. Boxer:

Boxers are upbeat and playful. Their patience and protective nature have earned them a reputation as a great dog. They are medium to large-sized, short-haired, and developed in Germany. Siddarth Malhotra and Arjun Rampal from the Bollywood industry have dogs from this breed. 

  1. Siberian Husky: 

This is a medium-sized working dog breed belonging to the Spitz genetic family. These are friendly, intelligent, outgoing, alert, and gentle. This breed is recognized by its thickly furred double coat, erect triangular ears, and distinctive markings. Suniel Shetty owns this breed’s dog. 

  1. Great Dane:

It descends from hunting dogs from Germany. It is one of the largest breeds in the world. These are devoted, reserved, loving, and gentle dogs. Among Bollywood celebrities, Amitabh Bachan and Suniel Shetty have dogs of this breed. 

  1. Pomeranian:

It is classed as a toy dog breed because of its small size, descended from Iceland and Lapland’s sledge dogs. These dogs are friendly, extroverted, and playful. It was cast in two famous Bollywood movies, Khoon bhari maang and Hum tumpe Marte hain. 

So it seems Bollywood seems to prefer dogs from different breeds they not only keep one dog from one breed but prefer many dogs from different breeds.
