What we wear everyday is often influenced by the celebrities that we know and love. In India, there is no shortage of stylish and beautiful celebrities to inspire the way that we dress. These are the people that are driving fashion forward and incorporating new styles and trends into their looks. What these celebrities wear may even be in your wardrobe in the the next year.
Katrina Kaif is definitely one of Bollywood’s best dressed women, particularly with her bold and beautiful colour choices. One of her most recent iconic looks was a palazzo sari, designed by Manish Malhotra in an incredible fiery red. One of the reasons that Katrina’s fashion choices are so successful, is that she dresses perfectly for a woman in her 30’s. She always demonstrates the pinnacle of style and taste.
Sonam Kapoor Ahuja
It’s been a great start to the year for Sonam Kapoor Ahuja. Her new movie Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga has hit the big screen and we have all been waiting to see what she is wearing. When out promoting the film, Sonam has been seen looking effortlessly fabulous and chic, in a beautiful sari designed by Badaam in a deep green-blue shade. There was also a stunning jacket in gold and ivory made by Rajesh Pratap Singh. These classics took the best of traditional Indian design and moved them forward into the 21st Century.
This year Janhvi has been pushing forward fashion by choosing bold hues. She is also giving traditional Indian wear a really modern spin. One of the favourites was the stunning dress that she wore to the Lions Gold Awards in January. The lehenga/trousers combination was designed by Anamika Khanna. It was accentuated by architectural panels in a shocking pink, highlighted with tassels in blue, green red and yellow. A really inspired choice.
Alia Bhatt is of course one of Bollywood’s favourite faces. She is still riding on the success of last year’s movie Raazi. This year she has followed this up with Gully Boy, which is already getting good critical reviews. Out on the red carpet, Alia’s fashion choices have been forward thinking and are certainly inspiring high street designers. At the launch for Gully Boy, the strapless cream dress by Jonathan Simkhai was a real talking point, especially paired up with those vibrant orange boots.
Finally, Kriti Sanon should be admired for her love of the colour green. She has been spotted out and about promoting her upcoming movie Luka Chuppi, looking extremely stylish in bandhani, skirt and shirt designed by Nupur Kanoi. You couldn’t miss the vivid blue green of the outfit, it is certainly a shade that will take the high street by storm.
